Objective

My objective is to help bring the healing power of cannabis to as many people as possible, so that eventually everyone can receive access to a healthy, holistic lifestyle. I plan to continually support and positively impact the marijuana movement. I will be a loyal and dependable employee to my company and my team/coworkers and always continue to learn and grow within the cannabis community. I will find new, creative ways to keep the company’s profits consistently high by engaging the community, regularly monitoring sales of products, and ensuring all employees have proper training and receive help whenever they need it. I will listen to the customer’s needs and provide an educated perspective on products in order to help improve people’s lives, sending the customer home fully satisfied and putting a smile on their face with my positive attitude and exceptional customer service.
Qualifications

I moved from Maryland to California about a month ago. I am extremely dedicated to and passionate about cannabis. In Maryland I was a medical patient for my diagnosed PTSD (still current cardholder) and have seen first-hand how beneficial it is for many people to function in their daily lives. I have also seen how the legality surrounding marijuana has been detrimental to people’s lives. I personally have dealt with legal issues in the past for simply wanting to heal and live my fullest life. This is why I know I have to get involved and help the cause. I have experience in management, selling CBD products, intricate knowledge of the medical marijuana industry, reaching out and networking with the community to spread awareness and increase profitability, extensive knowledge and skillful retail salesmanship, and a passion for holistic healing and lifestyles. I bring a valuable, unique skillset to each job I work at and love to immerse myself and learn everything about the field I work in, understanding and executing tasks thoroughly and efficiently every time. I have an affinity for helping others and putting smiles on the faces of those around me.

Experience

assistant store manager, Loyal companion (18.00/hr)
10/26/17- Present

I completed many hours of training geared toward natural animal nutrition much of which translates to humans, including brand specific training (we carried CBD hemp products for pets).  I regularly educated customers about product purposes, ingredients, safety regulations, and understanding where the ingredients in the products they buy are coming from. I asked questions about the customer and listened in order to find the products best suited for their needs. I also would regularly deep clean the store, lift up to 80 lbs, answer phones and provide the best shopping experience possible for all of my customers.

I personally raised thousands of dollars in donations for rescue organizations, personally reached out and networked/partnered with other local events and businesses in the area to boost customer traffic including groomers, rescues, vet clinics, community and in-store events.

I regularly monitor sales of the company and hold everyone, including myself, accountable when sales drop by engaging the staff in finding ways to increase sales such as more outreach, better education of products, keeping items by the register that will increase our average units per transaction, etc. I received and checked in shipments, called in any discrepancies with our orders, focused on loss prevention, input data into computer systems, faxed, scanned and filed paperwork in order to stay organized and well documented.

I managed a team of 5 employees in order to keep the store working efficiently and peacefully (it is important that every employee feels safe and enjoys coming to work- that they can work with employees who support them to achieve a common goal). I worked with my team to discover their learning styles in order to best teach them how to do each task thoroughly and confidently every time.  I interviewed potential employees for my team in order to make sure they were the perfect fit for the position applied for or if they were a better fit for another position, I would let them know that I think their talent would shine brighter in another position I had available.

Communication

At Loyal Companion we held many sales contests in order to boost employee participation one of which we had to pick one item that we didn’t sell a lot of and whoever sold the most quantity of their item won, I won and received a $50 Whole Foods gift card.

Was featured in Pet Valu’s weekly newsletter, which features one person a week from around 300 stores across the US, for providing a customer and her dogs with exemplary service. The customer went out of her way to call corporate in order to tell them “The associate named Kelly at your Ellicott City, Maryland location was so nice. She was so very helpful with the dog wash, my dogs just loved her. You have a great employee indeed!!!”

Awarded Student of The Month at Glenelg High School

Emailed many local groomers to bring into our store for a Nail Trimming Event. I decided to bring in this event because when we partner with a local groomer we can expand and combine the two customer bases bringing in customers who have never been to our store and vice versa. This builds a strong local community, increases customer volume, and makes affordable health care for pet parents more accessible. A local groomer emailed back and we were able to bring them in for a monthly nail trimming event which really helped increase customer traffic.

I took the initiative to email a low-cost vet clinic to bring them into our store in order to provide low cost shots and microchipping to our customers which increases our sales because customers are looking to buy supplements to keep their pets healthy while they are there. They responded to my email and them and my corporate company were so excited about the partnership that they planned to bring them into our store as a test and if it went well to bring them into the stores across the country totaling over 300 stores.

Leadership

One out of five students chosen from Glenelg High School to attend a leadership seminar to help shape intelligent, influential young minds.

Engaged in roleplay with employees in order to allow them to feel comfortable with any task given.

Settled employee disputes in a calm and compassionate manor in order to always have my team running smoothly, happily, and productively.

Regularly created sales contests in order to keep my team engaged and excited to increase profitability within the company.

Prior to becoming assistant manager, only the assistant manager and manager are typically present for the annual inventory count at Loyal Companion but my assistant manager at the time had to watch his child and I wanted to be there for my company so I cooked fajitas for my manager and our store buyer and worked the entire day from open til 3am the following day to help my manager with inventory because I didn’t want him to have to work alone and I’m always there for my team.

One of my regular customers at Loyal Companion recently had knee surgery and came in during a snowstorm. She had left the sunroof open in her SUV and it was not closing. I thought of how I could help her and asked if she would be okay covering it with one of our large trash bags until she could make it to a car mechanic. She agreed that the idea would work and was very grateful so I went out to her car in the snow and helped her attach it to her sunroof so the snow wouldn’t ruin her leather seats.

Helped an elderly customer jump start her car when her battery died because I didn’t want her to wait out in the snow with her dog.

Asked every customer and initiated sales contests in order to collect thousands of dollars’ worth of products donated by customers to help homeless pets by partnering with local rescues.
